Pentaho-based Spidex BI Brings Insights and Efficiencies to Enterprise Asset Management Solution
January 13, 2009, — Pentaho Corporation, the commercial open source alternative for business intelligence (BI), today announced that Spidex Software has seen strong commercial results and customer success from its Pentaho-based Spidex BI, an integrated BI application for users of Spidex's Mainsaver CMMS/EAM solution . The Spidex success is a good example of how third-party technology and services companies are working with Pentaho to deliver integrated solutions that provide more value to customers and drive incremental revenue for Pentaho partners.
Spidex BI is designed to operate out-of-the-box with Spidex products, with minimal installation time, no training and no customization. It offers users a powerful analysis dashboard which delivers real-time performance data on all the important engineering metrics, including work order management, labor usage, stores control and expenditure vs budget. Drill-down functionality enables users to isolate the root cause of recurring problems, cutting out hundreds of man-hours in administration time.
One of the first Spidex customers to take the new BI module was Simpson's Malt, the largest privately-owned malt producer in the UK. Chief Engineer Pat Richards gave his initial impressions;
"Spidex BI is well-presented, easy-to-use and enables us to analyze our engineering data in far greater detail than we were able to do previously."
"Using Spidex BI's drill-down functionality we were able to identify and correct a significant problem that may otherwise have remained hidden ö and that was just in the first week! I have no doubt that as our knowledge and usage of Spidex BI develops further, the module will prove itself invaluable."
Spidex BI incorporates Pentaho BI Suite Enterprise Edition to deliver reporting, analysis, dashboard, and data integration capabilities. The breadth of Pentaho's capabilities allow Spidex to provide demonstrable incremental value to their customers, increase its competitive advantage, expand its footprint in customer accounts, and drive incremental revenue to new prospects and existing customers by delivering integrated BI success.
"Pentaho BI technology has helped Spidex develop a compelling new offering for modern, efficiency-focused engineering teams and has unquestionably helped secure some recent wins," said Jonathan Starling, Spidex's Managing Director. "Early adopters among our existing installed base are already using Spidex BI and word seems to be spreading. We have many more customers wanting to discuss this exciting new product with us in the coming months."
