Disruptive technology supports demand for governed data delivery as information architectures evolve to support IoT, big data and cloud
November 19, 2014, Barcelona, Strata Conference + Hadoop World — Delivering the future of analytics, Pentaho Corporation today will demonstrate its Streamlined Data Refinery (SDR) for the first time in Europe at O'Reilly Strata Conference and Hadoop World Barcelona. Available now in Pentaho version 5.2, the SDR architecture includes new capabilities in the Pentaho platform to orchestrate the process of preparing large, diverse, blended data sets for queries on-demand using Hadoop. The SDR's automated data modelling and publishing capabilities are industry firsts that put governed, blended data sets from across the enterprise at business users' fingertips.
Business-friendly, IT approved
Last July the European Commission published a new strategy on Big Data, supporting and accelerating the transition towards a data-driven economy in Europe. The Internet of Things, Big data and cloud all present companies with new opportunities to profit from their data, but these innovations also pose massive and urgent challenges to those responsible for managing and analysing data. This means that modern architectures for analysts must promote collaboration and be both 'business-friendly' and 'IT approved'.
Davy Nys, VP EMEA & APAC, Pentaho explains, "Users want self-service analytics and to build custom data sets without having to involve IT. The Streamlined Data Refinery lets end users create customised data sets, bringing together all the data sources they require - relational, noSQL, Hadoop and others - in a consistent, governed and secure way by executing data integration processes on demand."
Streamlined Data Refinery's European debut
As part of his presentation "Practical Big Data Blending with Pentaho Data Integration," Matt Casters, Pentaho's Chief Data Integration and 'Kettle' project founder, will demonstrate Pentaho's SDR for the first time in Europe. He will show how companies are using it today to streamline the process of the most difficult and time consuming data management jobs including setting the metadata structure, data blending and governance. Join Matt's presentation to discover:
- How you can empower your users to architect big data blends at the source and stream them directly for more complete and accurate analytics.
- How you can support the broadest spectrum of big data sources with the Pentaho adaptive big data layer bringing greater flexibility and insulation from change.
- How a full array of embeddable, extendable analytics – from data access and integration, through data visualisation and predictive analytics – can help you quickly deliver near real-time business insights.
In stand 416, Pentaho will show a working SDR that extends HP ArcSight's big data security analytics and intelligence software by blending ArcSight data with business reference data. The demonstration will show how Pentaho can enhance HP ArcSight to automatically identify security threats and attacks in real-time by delivering user-initiated governed, blended data sets on demand. The SDR also calculates the business impact of a sustained network attack on applications.
