HDS to Showcase Converged Platform Integration with VMware Technology at VMworld® 2013
SANTA CLARA, Calif.— August 22, 2013 — Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501), today announced that it has successfully delivered Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) Pro for VMware vSphere® converged infrastructure for oXya, a leader in SAP technical services and hosting solutions. oXya helps midsize and global organizations increase the efficiency and flexibility of their SAP infrastructure and support operations. oXya provides technical services and hosting solutions for more than 190,000 SAP users worldwide, across all industries including manufacturing, retail, chemicals, administration, energy, transportation, and high-tech.
oXya evaluated many vendors and solutions to support their suite of SAP focused offerings (Managed Cloud services, Hosting Services, Consulting Services and Outsourcing services) and wanted to work with a single vendor that could provide the entire stack. The team at oXya determined that UCP Pro gave them significant advantages, such as fast time-to-value through pre-configured systems, unified management and rapid provisioning of virtual environments to onboard new SAP customers. Their first deployment was a success, and new customers can benefit from the robust architecture with their own dedicated UCP Pro.
HDS will spotlight its virtualization and cloud technologies in VMware environments and feature demonstrations and breakout sessions at VMworld® 2013, August 25-29, at Moscone Center in San Francisco.
“With broad integrations with VMware and a single converged platform, customers continue to select Hitachi Data Systems in VMware environments,” said Asim Zaheer, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, Hitachi Data Systems. “HDS is continuing our focus on the maximum possible IT efficiency and flexibility for businesses and service providers as they transform their operations and deliver IT as a service."
“Hitachi UCP Pro provides great value to us in terms of operational efficiency, cost effectiveness and meeting customer SLAs,” said Mel Du Boullay, chief technology officer of US Operations, oXya. “We are better equipped to support customers with just-in-time requirements and anticipate needing less man hours to do more, much better.”
Since 2002, Hitachi Data Systems and VMware have delivered innovative, end-to-end virtualization for storage consolidation, backup and archiving, business continuity and storage management. As an Elite partner in the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program and a VMware Ready™ program partner, HDS bridges the gap between server and storage infrastructures in customers’ data centers. HDS also helps customers optimize the operational efficiency and resiliency of their IT environments to save significant costs.
